Soo, welcome. Looks always good to say this, right?
Let's see...I'm Portuguese, I'm taking my Masters in Psychology, and I can now say I'm a published author!! The links for my book are in the Menu button, under "My Book!"
I'm mainly a fandom blog. My (too) many fandoms show up in my posts pretty much all the time.
I'm a hardcore bookworm and I'm a Potterhead (Slytherin, btw). I'm also a Hobbit. No, seriously, I'm VERY short.
Marvel is a way of living. And DC Comics has revealed to be a pleasant surprise. Feminism is a thing here. Also, I'm a Pisces. Apparently this bit of info. matters, for some reason...
I sometimes review and recommend books, and post my art - I'm only an amateur with no training, but hey, I like to see my progress.
Remember when Yuri on Ice came out and people claimed it had lied to them because it had the word yuri in it but wasn’t about lesbians?
Remember that and also how when Yuri on Ice came out, people slept on the show with a gay female protagonist–who was openly in a relationship with a woman–in favor of Yuri on Ice, on top of it all?
That’s right, people were complaining about Yuri on Ice not having lesbians in it right when Izetta The Last Witch–which is about a gay witch riding a gun (rather than a broom) and killing Nazis alongside her girlfriend–was airing at the same time.
Yup, they even made tumblr posts about how terrible and problematique Izetta was after thoroughly watching possibly one entire episode, if that. Then again, not surprising that they’d have higher standards for a show featuring women over men. I thoroughly enjoyed YoI, but … fujoshi be like that.
I did the being edgy and self-deprecating thing, it gets old. I wanna be soft and lovely and easily impressed. I wanna appreciate all the little things that make me happy the same way I’ve dwelled on every single thing that upsets me.
Fun story my history teacher told us: his grandfather during the industrial revolution walked past a flyer which said “looking for smart strong boys” so he went into the factory, said “i’m strong and smart”, and he had that job from age 13 to 78
and this is why they expect the younger generation to simply “get a job” ahh it’s so much clearer now
Here’s another fun story: My boss decided to slap my work phone number on all the ads we post looking for newspaper carriers. So I receive a bunch of calls from people looking for jobs. Working only part time, I’m not usually there when they call, so they have to leave a message and I take their info to pass on to my boss. Sometimes it can be weeks before my boss calls any of these applicants back, if at all. How the callers respond to not getting a callback varies. Most don’t do anything, but some call again. If the person sounds young, they may leave another message clarifying their qualifications and reaffirming their interest. If the person is old, and I can always hear it in their voice, they respond by getting mad, threatening to cancel their newspaper subscription, and occasionally swearing. The older generation is used to getting a callback, and an immediate one, so they throw a tantrum when they don’t get what they want.
And everyone calls Millennials entitled.
Mind. Blown.
This is great info, but the way the headline is phrased made it sound like they got the job of being a grandfather by walking right up and just asking
Let’s also talk about how everyone expects us to be able to “go get a job” including the generation that made that utterly impossible. The boomers did started all this bullshit with unpaid internships, qualifications that not applicant could feasibly have and disrespecting us so hard they don’t even call back to say they’re not interestsed.
